Havre de Grace, MD Real Estate
Originally founded in 1785, Havre de Grace was received its French name from General Lafayette, who claimed that the area reminded him of the seaport, La Havre, in his homeland. In 1789, Havre de Grace nearly became the nation's capitol, but in a tie breaking measure, the speaker of the house voted for the District of Columbia. In its early years, the waterways and canals in Havre de Grace made it a major trading post, and the city's economy has long been sustained by a maritime tradition.
